My new mom car is the Kia Telluride!

I decided on the Kia Telluride for my new mom car! Continue reading below to see why I picked the Kia and watch the video tour of the boys seeing it for the first time!

Saying Goodbye to the Jeep

It’s been interesting to see how grief has surfaced while I’ve been in the process of finding a new car. As I was close to making a decision, I found myself overwhelmed with anxiety, unable to pinpoint its source. It soon became clear—I was grappling with the idea of parting ways with the Jeep.

My love for Jeeps dates back to high school, and when Justin and I got married, he eagerly embraced our shared passion. Together, we went on numerous outdoor adventures, often envisioning future camping trips with our kids and embracing the outdoor lifestyle. Letting go of the Jeep felt like letting go of the life we had dreamed of together, had he been here. It’s been a mix of emotions.

I did have people suggest I keep the Jeep, but unfortunately I had to trade the Jeep in to put towards the new car. I am grateful Jeeps have such high resale value because that helped a ton! I’ll have a Jeep again someday!

Why I picked the Kia Telluride

Car shopping is such a personal opinion and the main reason I decided to share in an email was to avoid others opinions. I’ve been researching and test driving cars for months now. I love the look of my Jeep with the big tires and boxy frame so I really wanted an exterior with similar off road vibes. I wanted to force myself to love the Grand Highlander because it was Toyota, but I just didn’t love the exterior. It was also the longest car out of all the midsize SUV’s and I wasn’t sure it would fit in my garage. It came down to the Honda Pilot Trailsport and Telluride because I loved exterior look of both.

I went to test drive Kia for the second time and was blown away by all the interior features and comfort. I loved the way it drove. I then went straight to Honda and test drove the Honda Pilot Trailsport. The trails-port is their off road model, but it doesn’t come with all the features as the Honda Pilot Elite. I loved the way it drove, but the interior comfort and features was very underwhelming compared to Kia. I also felt like the engine wasn’t as powerful as the Kia when passing cars on the freeway.

I was so conflicted in deciding what car to pick out of the two. I decided to go test drive the Palisade and was blown away with the interior and how smooth the drive was. I almost left with a Palisade that night, but wanted to test drive the Kia one more time. I went the next morning to Kia and I knew that was the car.

I really liked how the Kia had all these cool tech features. Like, the video showing my blind spot when I’m switching lanes was a game-changer. And that rearview mirror with a camera? So handy when my trunk’s full! Oh, and the tailgate opening just by walking up? Genius.

Plus, those second-row seats? Heated AND cooled! Can’t beat that comfort. And hey, ceiling vents for extra airflow? Nice touch, especially since the Honda missed out on those. And don’t get me started on the app! Checking my gas levels and locking my car remotely? So convenient. Plus, being able to start my car from my phone or even share a key with a friend? Talk about modern! And that 10-year warranty? Amazing, especially with 5 years of roadside assistance. As a single mom, that’s a big deal for me!

What other cars was I considering?

Watch the video below to see all the cars I considered and why I ended up not going with them. I realized picking a car is just so personal and we all have different preferences on looks and features. I think most of these cars are amazing and would be a great fit depending on your personal needs and wants!
