Why themed food adds extra fun to a party
Ahoy, matey! Welcome to my pirate party food post—where snacks and creativity set sail! Themed food is one of my favorite ways to make any party extra fun, and a pirate party is the perfect excuse to get playful with names and presentation. In this post, you’ll find simple and kid-approved ideas for snacks, treats, and drinks, plus free printable labels to help you pull it all together with ease!
Pirate Party Food: Main Course
For our pirate party food, I kept it simple and kid-friendly with corn dogs and turkey sandwich wraps as the main course. I love coming up with fun names to match the theme, so I called the corn dogs “Peg Legs” and the sandwich wraps “Seaweed Wraps.” It added a playful touch that the kids loved! Don’t forget to download my free printable food labels below to make your pirate party setup even easier.

Snack/Appetizers
For our pirate party food, I kept the snacks and appetizers simple and fun! We had a tray of fresh veggies, a big bowl of colorful fruit, and of course, some Pirate’s Booty popcorn to stick with the theme. It was the perfect mix of healthy options and kid-friendly treats that everyone enjoyed.

Fruit “Berry’d Treasure”

Veggies “Parrot Food”

Treats
For the pirate party treats, I wanted a mix of fun and festive options that the kids would love. Alongside some classic goodies, I made these adorable pirate skull Rice Krispie treats that were a big hit—make sure to check out the recipe below! I also got creative with themed snacks: Whoppers became “cannon balls,” white chocolate pretzels were “skeleton bones,” Rolos made perfect “golden nuggets,” and I served them all in a cute wooden treasure chest for that extra pirate flair. To top it off, I used fish gummies and labeled them as “shark bait”—the kids thought it was hilarious!

Skull Rice Krispies
For easy pirate party treats, I made fun skull Rice Krispies that were a hit with the kids! They’re super simple to make and fit the theme perfectly. I love finding creative ways to turn classic treats into something fun for the party

Drinks
For drinks at our pirate party, I kept it super simple by using Crystal Light packets—easy to make and kid-approved! I found some adorable pirate-themed cups and plates that tied everything together perfectly. To add a fun touch, I created a “Pirate Punch” label that you can tape right onto your drink dispenser. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference! You can print your own label below. If you enjoy these free printables, it would mean so much if you pinned this to Pinterest or shared it with a friend. Cake
I had a local bakery make these cakes for me. I sent over a picture of something similar that I wanted and they gave me a price. Something I did last year with their Superhero cakes was to put my own toy on top to bring the cost down. This year I paid a little extra and the bakery made these cake toppers with their 3D printer. It really made the cake pop and look so good!

I also ask to have the whole surface covered with buttercream instead of fondant to save money. Then they can have fondant additions. You can also save money by buying pre-made fondant and add to a cake if you like to do that.

One year I bought my own fondant and added paws to their Paw Patrol cake which saved me some money and it looked really cute. I love taking on DIY projects, but baking is not my favorite thing to do. It’s always easier to hire that out and focus on all the other stuff. My boys were so excited with out these cakes turned out! They really make the rest of the table pop and are the best part of any food table.
Print Food Labels
Feel free to print these and use them for your party. I just made them in Canva and use images from google to make them. I loved how they turned out! The font I used for the food labels is called “IM Fell English” if you want to make some. You can also use my template to change the text to make your own food labels. You will need a free Canva account to access the template and change it.
Edit Food Labels
You can edit these food labels on my Canva so you can add or make your own labels.
Serving Plates and Stands
I use the same serving trays every year for the food table at my boys’ birthday parties, and they’ve become total staples in my party stash. One of my beset setups was their Superhero birthday party and I’m glad I had all the serving trays. They’re simple, sturdy, and always help make the food setup look polished and pulled together, no matter the theme. I love how easy they are to clean and store, and having them ready to go each year takes one more thing off my party planning list. Whether I’m serving snacks, cupcakes, or a full lunch spread, these trays make it all look intentional—and they’ve definitely earned their keep over the years!
