National Widows Day 2020

I never thought I would have the title widow before my 30th birthday. I’ve become a lot of things in my life, but a widow will take the cake for being the hardest. In the past when I went through hard times Justin was always there to be my support and get me through. I think the hardest part of being a widow is not being able to go to the person you have always gone to when things get hard. Not being able to turn to that one person to share your joys with when life is going great. The one person I always turned to is gone and having to navigate this new life without him has been extremely hard.

I have felt so alone thinking I must be the only young widow going through this. It wasn’t until I got on social media and searched the hashtag #youngwidows that I realized I wasn’t alone. There were so many other widows out there going through the same things as I was. Since then I have meet so many other young widows. We check in on each other on the hard holidays and birthdays. We talk about things that only another widow would understand. Knowing that I’m not the only one going through this has helped me so much. Having their support has saved me through this difficult journey.

This year I featured some amazing widows on my Caravan Community page. For National Widows Day I wanted to highlight their stories again. Their stories continue to give me so much strength.
