Treasure Hunt
No pirate party is complete without a treasure hunt, its the perfect pirate party games. I’ve created free printables that will guide your little pirates on an exciting quest to find hidden treasure. You can set up clues around your yard or house, each leading to the next, until they finally discover the “treasure chest” full of goodies. Whether it’s chocolate gold coins, toys, or pirate-themed treats, the excitement of the treasure hunt will have the kids feeling like real pirates!
You can head to my template and customize the clues if you want to make them more personal or fit your space better. Since we had so many kids at our party, I split them into two groups running different hunts—and that made things run so much smoother!

How to setup and hide the clues
Here’s how I hid the clues for our pirate party scavenger hunt! I started by rolling up the first clue and handed it to the group of kids to kick things off—no hiding needed for that one. For the second clue and every one after, I rolled them up, added a sticky note with hiding instructions, and hid each one in the spot the previous clue would lead them to.
For the final step, I crumpled up the treasure map to make it look old, added a sticky note with where to hide it, and placed it in the final clue’s location. I prepped everything before the party—rolled up all the clues, labeled them, and hid them ahead of time so I didn’t have to think about it once the fun started. It made the whole scavenger hunt run super smoothly, and the kids loved it!

Treasure Chest
I bought two small treasure chest that I filled with goodies so when they finished their treasure hunt they got to open and get the treasure goodies. The kids loved!

Musical Island
Another fun game to add to the pirate party games is musical island. This twist on musical chairs will have your little pirates hopping across the seas (or islands)! Lay out large paper “islands” on the ground, one for each child except one. Play some fun pirate music, and as the music plays, the kids walk or hop from one island to the next. When the music stops, they must find an island to stand on. The last pirate standing wins! You can make it even more fun by adding pirate chants or sea shanties to the music playlist.

Decorate Wooden Swords
Give your young pirates the chance to personalize their own weapons with a wooden sword decorating station! Provide plain wooden swords and supplies like paint, markers, stickers, and glitter. Let the kids go wild creating their very own pirate sword. Not only does this make for a fun activity, but the kids also get to take home their creations as party favors! This activity is perfect for getting the kids in the pirate spirit!
Piñata
A classic pirate piñata will add extra excitement to your pirate party games! Choose a piñata shaped like a pirate ship, treasure chest, or pirate skull and crossbones, and fill it with treats like candy, small toys, and coins. Blindfold the kids and let them take turns swinging a plastic sword or bat to try and crack open the piñata. Once it’s busted open, the kids will have a blast gathering up their pirate loot!

Shop Pinata
I got my Pinata from Zurchers, but if you don’t have a Zurchers you can get one online. I linked some below and I filled it myself with a big bag of candy.

Walk the Plank
Challenge the little pirates to “walk the plank” in a fun, safe way! Set up a narrow balance beam or a long strip of tape on the ground, and have the kids walk across it without falling off into the “shark-infested waters” (you can use pool noodles or stuffed animals as sharks). You can even add a fun pirate accent by giving them a pirate phrase to say as they walk, like “Yo ho ho!” or “Arrr, matey!”
